Jerusalem - Israel's Capital
Jerusalem a is beautiful, hilly, historical city and a welcome change from the hot humid coast in the summer. The Old City is only about one square kilometer in size but it can reward days of photographing. Jerusalem, the capital of Israel has always a photographic opportunity, from the old cities narrow streets and its busy bustling markets to the historical architecture of the ancient cities walls there is something for every location photographer.

Tel Aviv and Jaffa
Tel Aviv has a relaxed Mediterranean beach atmosphere. What is unique about Tel Aviv is that it is both a beach town and the nation's cultural and business capital. Visible from a distance with its seafront skyscrapers and exclusive hotels, half the city has been built or rebuilt in the last ten years so the city has a mix of photographically interesting old and new architecture with some buildings combining both. A 17-35 wide-angle zoom lens would be a good choice for capturing the spirit of the modern architecture on display in Tel Aviv.
Old Jaffa is at the south end of the Tel Aviv beach and is Tel Aviv's Old City. By contrast, the ancient port city of Jaffa, is medieval in appearance. This special blend of Mediterranean ambience, seaside resort and modern facade is what makes the city so uniquely appealing.

Caesarea
Caesarea is an old Roman port city on the Mediterranean shore, located in Israel's coastal region halfway between Haifa and Tel-Aviv, Caesarea is nothing short of an archeological wonderland for photographers. Like many forts and cities in Israel, it has been run and overrun by all sorts of people over the ages, from Romans to Arabs to Crusaders, each adding their own mark to the place. With its sun kissed beaches and ancient structures, you can't visit Caesarea without being awed by the beauty of the Mediterranean.

The Ancient City of Acre
The crusader city of Acre, or Akko, is UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, the Knights Templar built a citadel and ruled over the old city for a hundred years, the great leaders Richard the Lionheart and Saladin fought against each other and history was changed when Napoleon’s army was defeated by Al-Jazzar and the British. Akko possesses a long history of various cultures: Israelites, Greeks, Romans, Crusaders and Arabs. One of the reasons to photograph Acre is to visit the busy souk or market to capture its busy and colorful atmosphere.

Masada, a mountaintop fortress is surrounded by barren landscapes of the Judah desert. During the winter, despite the small quantities of rain, the Negev can be found covered with amazing flowers, including luscious red anemones. The Negev has a number of interesting cultural and geological features, giving many opportunities to capture the wonder and variety of terrain in Israel.

The Sea of Galilee
The Sea of Galilee (also known as Lake Tiberias or the Kinneret) is a sweet water lake that is fed by the Jordan River, rainfall and springs on the northern side. Since biblical times, the Sea of Galilee has been famous for its abundance of fish. Many of Jesus' disciples were fishermen here as he did much of his preaching by its shores. Today, this beautiful area around the Sea of Galilee is brimming with a mix of fascinating historical and religious sites, vast landscapes, towns and settlements, nature and wildlife.
